KEY FEATURES
In The Bathroom
- Installation of hands free or lever style taps for easier operation
- Installation of grab bars and reinforcements around toilets, tubs and sinks
- Installation of adjustable hand held shower fixtures
- Replacing traditional tub/shower units with stand up bath and shower units
- Installation of raised toilets
In the Kitchen
- Installation of hands free or lever style taps for easier operation
- Alterations of sinks to allow use from a seated position
Throughout the home
- Installation of hand rails
- Conversion of cupboards and drawers with handles to “touch-and-release” style
- Lowering of existing counters and cupboards
- Installation of door locks and handles that are easier to operate
- Adding additional light fixtures throughout the interior of the home and exterior entrances to allow better visibility
- Moving and replacing light switches and electrical outlets to allow for easier access and operation.
- Installation of motion activated lighting
- Replacing carpets and slippery flooring with non-slip options to allow for use of walkers or wheelchairs
- Widening of doorways either through installation of special hinges or physical widening of entrances
- Installation of interior or exterior ramps to eliminate stairs
- Building Maintenance and Repairs including Plumbing, Drywall, and Painting
- Installation of fire extinguishers, smoke detectors and Carbon Monoxide detectors
- Hang TV mounts and other wall hardware
Many of the above services qualify for the Home Renovation Tax Credit for Seniors and Persons with Disabilities.
